Strength Design Power-Stud® Expansion Anchors by Powers Fasteners®

What are Expansion Anchors?

Expansion Anchors can be used to describe the majority of concrete and masonry anchors. Expansion anchors have an expansion mechanism that is designed to compress against the base material. Each style of expansion anchor can have a different expansion mechanism, which can either be a sleeve, slotted shell, slotted stud, or wedge assembly. The expansion mechanisms are actuated by a tapered cone, tapered plug, nail, bolt, or screw depending on the anchor. The compression of the expansion mechanism against the wall of the drilled hole allows the anchor to transfer the load to the base material. Anchors that are expanded by tightening a bolt or nut are considered to be torque controlled anchors.

Save 50% on Labor with New Smart DI+ Drop-In Anchors

The Smart DI+ Drop-In is an all steel internally threaded anchor specifically designed with  safety, reliability and speed in mind. The patented Smart DI+ design reduces the amount of force required to set the anchor. What used to take approximately twenty hammer blows on a typical 3/8″ diameter part can now be accomplished in approximately 5 blows, reducing overall labor costs by approximately 50%. The cylindrical plug design concentrates more expansion at the bottom of the anchor where it’s needed to maximize performance.

Mechanical contractors and electrical contractors use drop-in style anchors to hang threaded rod from ceilings to run pipe supports, fire sprinklers, cable trays and strut. Concrete contractors use them for temporary form work. With the added feature that allows a contractor, general foreman or inspector to see if the anchor has been set, Smart DI+TM drop-in is not only easy to set but safer than conventional drop-in anchors.

Smart DI+  Drop-In has the highest safety rating in its class. That not only makes the choice smart, but easy!

Easy to use:
1. Drill the hole with Smart DI+ Bit
2. Lock on the Smart DI+ setting tool
3. Drive the plug with the same tool used to drill the anchor hole

Smart DI+ Drop-in Anchors are now in stock and ready for delivery. Watch the video

Tanner Exhibits Two Major Trade Shows in September 2010

GlassBuild America- Las Vegas Convention Center Sept. 14-16, 2010 Booth 521
Door & Hardware Institute 35th Annual Expo- Navy Pier Chicago, IL. September 22-23, 2010 Booth 1710

Tanner Bolt and Nut Corporation will be participating in two major events this upcoming September. Tanner will be exhibiting at both GlassBuild America and the Door & Hardware Institute’s 35th Annual Expo. The events will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from September 14th to 16th and at Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois from September 22nd to 23rd respectively. At both events, Tanner Bolt and Nut will exhibit innovative fastening, anchoring, cutting and safety solutions for the commercial and institutional construction industries.

GlassBuild America is now in its seventh year and it is the gathering place for the entire glass, window, and door industries in North America and is continually listed as one of the Top 200 trade shows in the U.S. by Tradeshow Week. This show floor is the central showcase for glass processing equipment, window and door manufacturing equipment, and the latest technologies for all types of glass and fenestration products in North America.

Tanner will feature anchoring products for concrete applications, construction and masonry fasteners, security fasteners and anchors, cutting tools for aluminum, steel and stainless steel, metal fastening systems and safety equipment.

Tanner Bolt &Nut Corporations is also an exhibitor in the Door and Hardware Institute’s 35th annual conference and exposition. This year’s expo is all about sustainability as a theme, regarding both “green” constructions as well as how it applies to the door industry’s businesses.

Tanner is on hand to exhibit their cutting edge door hardware products for hollow metal door distributors, door and window installers, security contractors and locksmiths. Products include anchors and screws for hollow metal frame installations, security screws, specialty fasteners and self-drilling screws for door hardware, hinge installations, and glazing, and cutting tools including hole cutters, metal cutting blades and abrasives.

Save Installation Time- New Overhead Anchor

The new SNAKE(TM)+ overhead anchor from Powers Fasteners, Inc. speeds installation of threaded rods…and is one of the industry’s first mechanical anchors to meet the new more stringent International Building Code (IBC) for strength design (Cracked Concrete).

The patented proprietary anchor eliminates the time-consuming steps of banging in a drop-in and then using a special tool to set the expansion mechanism. It is simply set into a drilled hole and then tightened with a ½”  impact wrench until flush with the ceiling and ready for the insertion of threaded rod. There is no need to swing a heavy hammer overhead while on a ladder or lift.
