LNA Solutions vs. Lindapter: Comparing Structural Steel Connection Products

Eddie Burlem, August 11, 2026August 19, 2026

When a project specifies a Lindapter product, contractors and fabricators may have another option. LNA Solutions offers an extensive selection of engineered structural connection products for many of the same steel-to-steel and hollow structural section applications.

Depending on the connection requirements, an LNA Solutions product may provide a more competitively priced alternative, improved availability or a broader choice of sizes and configurations. The comparison charts below can help engineers, contractors and purchasing teams identify potential LNA equivalents to commonly specified Lindapter products.

However, an equivalent product should never be selected by part number alone. Load requirements, steel geometry, flange thickness, finish, approvals and installation conditions must all be verified before a substitution is approved.

BoxBolt vs. Lindapter Hollo-Bolt

When the connection is being made to hollow structural steel and the installer can only reach one side, BoxBolt blind fasteners may provide an alternative to Lindapter Hollo-Bolt products.

Both systems are engineered for blind connections into HSS members. They install through a predrilled hole without requiring access to the inside of the steel section. This can eliminate through-bolting, tapping and field welding.

BoxBolt offers several practical advantages:

  • Installation from one side of the connection
  • Sizes ranging from 1/4 inch through 3/4 inch
  • Multiple lengths and clamping ranges
  • Zinc-plated, hot-dip galvanized and stainless-steel options
  • ICC-ES-approved Type C products under ESR-3217
  • Lloyd’s Register and DIBt-approved options
  • Installation using standard hand tools
  • Optional BoxSok™ tools for faster repetitive installation

The availability of a 1/4-inch BoxBolt can be useful for lighter-duty or space-constrained connections where the Lindapter Hollo-Bolt range begins at a larger diameter.

Lindapter may remain the appropriate choice when a project specifically requires ESR-3330, a countersunk or flush-fit head, a particular fire rating or documented fatigue performance. For standard HSS connections where those features are not required, BoxBolt may provide a practical and competitively priced option. Review the manufacturers’ current technical information and the project specification before approving a substitution.

Understanding the Comparison Charts

The charts on this page are intended to help identify LNA products that perform a similar function to commonly specified Lindapter products. They provide a starting point for product research, estimating and substitution requests.

An “equivalent” listed in a chart does not automatically mean the products are identical or interchangeable. Before making a final selection, verify:

  • Connection type and direction of loading
  • Required tensile and frictional capacity
  • Bolt diameter and grade
  • Steel flange thickness and profile
  • Parallel, sloped or tapered flange conditions
  • Required clamping range
  • Tightening torque
  • Material and corrosion-resistant finish
  • Seismic, fire, fatigue or third-party approvals
  • Required shims, packing pieces or location plates
  • Requirements stated in the contract documents

Final connection design and product substitutions should be reviewed by the project’s structural engineer or other qualified design professional.

Frequently asked questions

Is LNA BoxBolt the same as Lindapter Hollo-Bolt?

They perform the same function, a single-side blind bolt for hollow structural steel connections, but they are not identical products. BoxBolt is ICC ESR-3217 approved and available down to 1/4 in., while Hollo-Bolt is ICC ESR-3330 approved, starts at 5/16 in., and adds countersunk and flush head options. Use the equivalents chart on this page to find the matching BoxBolt part number for a specified Hollo-Bolt size.

Can I substitute LNA BeamClamp for a specified Lindapter Girder Clamp?

In most cases, yes. LNA BeamClamp types BA, BB, BK, BM, BW, BY, BD, and BL are sized and rated to match Lindapter’s Type A, B, LR, LS, BR, AF/AAF, CF, and F9 clamps respectively. Confirm the exact part number against the equivalents chart and verify load rating and finish before substituting on an approved project.

Why would I choose LNA Solutions over Lindapter?

LNA Solutions products are manufactured and stocked domestically in Buffalo, N.Y., which typically means shorter lead times than an overseas-sourced alternative. BoxBolt also adds a 1/4 in. size option and Lloyd’s Register Type Approval and DIBt certification, which Hollo-Bolt does not carry. Lindapter still leads on fire-rated (F120) and flush-head applications, so the right choice depends on your project’s specific requirements.

What does “N/A” mean on the equivalents charts?

N/A means no corresponding part number exists in the source catalog for that size, finish, or configuration. Where a chart shows N/A, do not assume a direct substitute is available; confirm technical suitability with Tanner or a licensed engineer before specifying or purchasing.
